An Update!

Hello to all our customers far and wide!

Following the announcement from Welsh Government today that we can open outside from Monday, we thought we would share our plans with you for the next few weeks ahead.

We will be placing a small number of tables outside from Wednesday 15th July for customers wishing to enjoy their takeaway on site while observing social distancing.

We will not be providing table service or toilets until we can fully open.

The date given by Welsh Government for this is a tentative one of 3rd August and will depend on how the next few weeks go.  Once the date has been confirmed we will update you again with our re-opening date.  We want to make absolutely sure that we have carried out all the checks needed to make everything safe for you and for our staff.  Until that time we’ll be busy re-organising our inside space to allow for social distancing measures, while continuing with our takeaway service.

All support from our customers is greatly appreciated and we are so grateful to those of you who have been able to buy from us over the past few months.

Please keep an eye on our social media pages and our website for further updates.

Keep safe and see you soon!

Emma, Lucy and all at Honey Café

You can find us at the heart of the Black Mountains over looking the Brecon Beacons National Park. Just 7 miles from the famous book town of Hay-on-wye.

Serving food from 9am to 9pm daily. Cosy interior in the winter months, surrounded by original paintings and enjoy the spectacular views from our sheltered, peaceful terrace in the warmer months.

Situated just off the main road we are easy to find and we offer a large car park at the front of the building with ramps for disabled access. We also offer disabled toilet facilities and baby changing.

Our cafe was established in 1933 by our Grandmother, Glynwen in what was originally a malt house and brewery. During the 60's the cellar was home to the honey cavern a live music night club for the local area. In 1994 we introduced the texmex menu which was a huge success and today we are still providing good food and service at reasonable prices, whilst being eco-conscious, keeping the business well maintained and remaining faithful to our roots.

"Ewch I food.gov.uk/ratings I ganfod sgôr hylendid bwyd ein busnes neu gofynnwch inni beth yw ein sgôr hylendid bwyd wrth archebu./ Go to food.gov.uk/ratings to find out the food hygiene rating of our business, or ask us for our food hygiene rating when you order."

From traditional to texmex

At the honey cafe we aim to cater for everyone. During the day we have a traditional British menu, with some Mexican street snacks! In the evening our Texmex menu has traditional, mild and more spicy options available.

We now have a plant based menu and a menu for those avoiding gluten.

All available to takeaway!

So everyone can enjoy.

Gourmet Burgers

Our chef is always creating a range of mouth watering 'filmed themed' gourmet burgers.

Come and try 'The Good, The Bad and The Hungry' or 'Towering Inferno'!

For the sweet tooth

Come in and enjoy our homemade cakes and desserts! Fruit pies, cheesecake, creamy roulade, indulgent fudge cake, traditional treacle, welshcakes, barabrith, brownies, lemon drizzle... they really are delicious!

tAKE A BIT OF our cafe WITH YOU

Why not take a little bit of your visit with you? We have our own home produced honey from our bees (seasonal), Coaltown coffee, Pukka teas, homemade Christmas pudding (seasonal), and all our cakes, desserts and savoury foods are available to take away.

We use compostable packaging where possible.  15p discount for all hot drinks if you bring your own keepcup and we'll happily refill your water bottles.

Keeping things local

Here at the honey cafe we try to buy as much as we can from local sources. Our meat, bread and milk all sourced from within 2 miles! Fresh bread and milk delivered every day from Ashburnham Bakery and John the milk! And have you tried our Sunday roasts with delicious meat from WJ George?

We are well known for our beautiful garden terrace with spectacular views of the Black Mountains, perfect for any sunny day! We also use seasonal produce, when we can, from our own back garden.
