COVID -19 - New update (08 November 2020)

We are so looking forward to welcoming you all back inside from tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone who has supported us by ordering takeaway during the Firebreak, we are truly grateful.

Be assured that takeaway is still very much available.

Our popular Sunday Roasts will be available every Sunday either to takeaway or eat in but these must be booked in advance.  Our freshly baked bread will also be available to purchase every Sunday.

There are a few new rules for us in the hospitality sector that come into place tomorrow.

  • You will be required to check in with us where details of each group member will be taken.

  • We can take bookings for a maximum of four people from different households, names and numbers of all members of the group must be taken on booking and we will be required to ask for verification on arrival via some form of ID.  This can be a driver’s license or credit/debit card.

  • If you are a family of 5 or 6 who all live together (evidence must be provided) we can seat you but our maximum is 6.  This is to enable social distancing within the restaurant according to our risk assessment.

  • Outside seating will still be available and this is also subject to a maximum of 4 people per table unless you are a family of 5 or 6 who all live together.

  • You will then be allocated a table and orders/payment must be taken at the table.

  • Bookings are subject to a time limit of 2 hours.  As we are unable to have customers on the premises after 10pm, last bookings will be taken at 8pm.  We can take walk-in’s but we are advising customers to book where possible.

We know that all of this can take a little extra time but we ask that you bear with us and help us to keep you safe by following these guidelines.  As always, masks will be mandatory unless you are seated.

Working to keep safe and looking forward to the days when we can let you come and go as you please!

Lucy, Emma and The Team

Situated just off the main road we are easy to find and we offer a large car park at the front of the building with ramps for disabled access. We also offer disabled toilet facilities and baby changing.

You can find us at the heart of the Black Mountains over looking the Brecon Beacons National Park. Just 7 miles from the famous book town of Hay-on-wye.

Our cafe was established in 1933 by our Grandmother, Glynwen in what was originally a malt house and brewery. During the 60's the cellar was home to the honey cavern a live music night club for the local area.

In 1994 we introduced the texmex menu which was a huge success and today we are still providing good food and service at reasonable prices, whilst being eco-conscious, keeping the business well maintained and remaining faithful to our roots.
