A family run business for over 85 years

COVID -19 - New update (8th September 2020)

We are pleased to welcome you back inside at last!

To help keep you and our staff safe we have made some more changes:

  • Since space is limited inside the cafe we advise wearing masks whilst moving around inside and using toilet facilities.

  • Also, 6 is the maximum group size as bigger groups cause too much congestion and the 2m social distancing rule is not possible.

  • Please use the one way system where you will arrive at the 'Please wait to be seated' sign.  We have spaced queuing if several groups are waiting to be seated.

  • We will take your name & telephone number and show you to a sanitised table.

  • We are table service only inside and out. We have sanitised menus or you can use the menu above.

  • Your order will be taken at the table and if you sit outside, it's pay as you go.

  • We still serve takeaways.

  • If you are shielding we are happy to deliver your takeaway to your car on arrival.

Any further updates will be posted here.

Many thanks to you all for accommodating our new ways through these incredibly challenging times.

Lucy, Emma and The Team

Situated just off the main road we are easy to find and we offer a large car park at the front of the building with ramps for disabled access. We also offer disabled toilet facilities and baby changing.

You can find us at the heart of the Black Mountains over looking the Brecon Beacons National Park. Just 7 miles from the famous book town of Hay-on-wye.

Our cafe was established in 1933 by our Grandmother, Glynwen in what was originally a malt house and brewery. During the 60's the cellar was home to the honey cavern a live music night club for the local area.

In 1994 we introduced the texmex menu which was a huge success and today we are still providing good food and service at reasonable prices, whilst being eco-conscious, keeping the business well maintained and remaining faithful to our roots.

"Ewch I food.gov.uk/ratings I ganfod sgôr hylendid bwyd ein busnes neu gofynnwch inni beth yw ein sgôr hylendid bwyd wrth archebu./ Go to food.gov.uk/ratings to find out the food hygiene rating of our business, or ask us for our food hygiene rating when you order."
